We both has tmobile pre-paid in the last few years with no data plan. $100/year for each phone, and we do not even use all of the minutes. The cell phones are only used when we are not at home. We use a free Google Voice with Obihai at home. We have two old smartphones, so we will need to buy a new one. After the travel period, we will replace one of the old phone with the new one.
So we need to have a cell phone with data plan for 1-2 months only, so we can tether our laptops while traveling. We use internet for our work, so reliability and speed is very important. Also like to be able to continue using TMobile wifi calling with this new phone since we will replace one of the old phone with the new one.
I am looking for the most bang for the buck smartphone and data plan. My plan is to get a new smartphone, but not top of the line and prepaid plan with data from tmobile, then cancel the plan after we are done with our traveling.
I am still researching on the best way to do this. I am pretty tech savvy, but need some catching up on smartphone and the data plan from different providers. Too many choice lol
For the phone, preferably I like to stay at $200 or less, but I can go over $200 if needed. I like Google Nexus 6, it is a bit older now, but seems like still a good phone for what we need to do.
So, any suggestion for smartphone and/or data plan to do this?
