Also this truism about programmers. Or anyone doing low level tech work. Or computer security.
There's a lot of truth to this. I'm totally done with morning standup, scrums and bug trackers and dealing with the numerous quirks of git. I retired three years ago to get out of this rat race.
That said, I have to say that
still enjoy programming - I just won't do it for work. I have been working on a Python based framework to control my model trains for the past few months and it has been a delight. I have no deadlines so I can take as long as I want to figure out the right way to implement some tricky piece of code. I spend a couple of hours every day chipping away at it and hope to publish my code some time next year.
