Mint says I'm a millionaire!
« on: April 27, 2017, 10:56:10 AM »
Just logged into Mint and I got the attached surprise along with a new look to the website!

What a minute...  I was excited for a second!

In other non-news, the investments tab still shows complete bullshit charts.

LOL, mortgages are an asset right?  Seems to be the opinion around here recently at least.  But not THIS much of an asset!

Congrats!

..and I'm with you on the bullshit charts.  For a long time, they actually seemed to (mostly) work on my TSP account; at least the balance over time graphs showed correctly.  Then about 6 months ago they screwed that all up and now every.single.one of my investment accounts has some weird error or just zeroed out data.

I had the same shock this morning; "whoa the stock market really has been doing well!!!!"

It seems to be just that the mortgage / loan category is counting as positive, not negative, wealth. The number they calculate for "Debt" is apparently loan - credit card. It's just all kinds of confused.

Yeah I saw that this morning myself, was doing the math to see where they magically came up with the number before I realized they were adding the debts rather than subtracting them. Then I had a good chuckle (this was very early morning, hadn't even ate yet hence the confusion). They have already fixed it.

Me too, but they fixed it today. They also count investing as spending, making the spending tracker worthless. And the investment tracker only works on an actual computer.

Have any of you found that the investment tracker gives you funny data for pretax accounts?

haha, my numbers are a lot smaller than the OP but I also noticed this.

Regarding investing as "spending".  You should reclassify the transaction as a "transfer" and it won't show as "spend"  Just like paying your CC bill ;)

The Investments tab is wholly useless so I've been using Personal Capital for that.  I still like the rest of Mint but maybe I'm just being sentimental (my first "house accounting" software).  I never loaded anything except investments into Personal Capital.

PC is practically mopping the floor with Mint as far as accurate information goes. I can do nothing and reasonably expect PC to be accurate to the penny.

Mint on the other hand, has entirely useless tabs, misplacing payments as 'spending' can't seem to track income and loses history constantly.

I've had mint for 5 years and apparently my NW was negative until last year skyrocketed to 400k somehow and I have no tools to fix this.
