Motivation from my 4-year old and my 2-year old
« on: May 19, 2015, 10:56:05 AM »
This year was my 4-year old's first year of pre-school, and this week is his last week before "graduation". We have been counting down the days with him for the last few weeks. This was our exchange this morning (we are just coming off a week-long beach vacation):

son: Are you going to work today Daddy?
me: Yes
son: How many more works do you have left?

I like how he thinks :)

And most mornings by 2-year old and I will have an exchange like this:

daughter: You going to work Daddy?
me: Yes
daughter: I want you come home to our house

These are just a few of the reasons I am striving for FI, planning to downshift my career (likely in the next 2-3 years), and eventually RE.

I don't share these goals with my co-workers and friends, so I thought it appropriate to share here.

Great stories!  Kids always know what's really important in life ... if only we could see as clearly as them!

Love it!

Before we have kids, we were intrigued by the concept of FIRE but didn't do much about it; since our boy's birth, we gradually downshift (hubby is a SAHD for almost 2 years now) and plan to RE 3 years later, if not earlier. Life is a lot more interesting and less stressful when kids make us see clearly what our priorities are!
