I bought some really nice pants at Eddie Bauer. The outer material feels almost like canvas, and it is fleece lined. Very thick and warm. Have had them for about a year now with no notable wear. They do feel a little more flexible now though.

Eddie Bauer is good for men's clothes-- I buy a fair amount of my husband's work clothes there because he is HARD on clothing.  When they put their men's pocket tees on sale I try to stock up.  (That's another thing-- anybody notice that in the last few years, everybody has stopped putting chest pockets on tee shirts and polos?  DH needs a chest pocket for his notebook, pen, all that crap.

Women's is more hit-and-miss, possibly because it's trying harder to be "stylish" and changes more with the seasons.  I've had a few really annoying purchases from there that didn't work.  Most memorable is a raincoat that is not really water resistant, and has a drawstring hood in which the string dangles directly over the forehead.  Needless to say, they only made that one for one season-- no wonder it was on clearance.

Yeah!  I also have 3 pair and don't think I will ever need to buy socks again.  I saw that they're 25% off at REI for a Labor Day Sale and was thinking about picking up another pair, but then I asked myself - why?  The ones I have will never wear out.

I wrote this on another thread, but I've been putting one pair through a test - I have worn the same pair every day to work so far this year, and there is little to no visible wear on them.  And I walk at least a few miles every day in steel toed boots at work.

I wish I could find jeans that held up as well as those socks.

I have much the same experience.    I'm on my feet 8 hours a day, in steel toed work boots.   I may wear the same socks 2 -3 days depending on how dirty/sweaty.   (I'm trying not to wash everything after one wearing as it's often not necessary)

I'll probably buy more Darn Tough socks for 2 reasons; One, socks still get lost "in the dryer" or wherever socks disappear to.     Two, it's just one of the few quality items that it's possible to buy today.   It gives me pleasure to buy something well made and durable.   I'll probably eventually have 7 pair.

I find that shirts made out of bamboo and hemp seem to still be nice and thick and sturdy.

I've noticed for the past several years that blue jeans seem to be made from thinner, cotton material rather than thicker denim like they used to. It really frustrates me. It seems that every pair of jeans I've bought over the past 5 years wear through and become thread-bare so quickly. Jeans used to last forever, now they're just cheap crap.
Wrangler, non-stretch. Those are still jeans.
Levis also make a nice thick non-stretch variety. That said, I prefer my jeans to stretch since I wear the fashionable skinny jeans. The reason it's hard to find the thick ones is because people don't like them as much, so fewer are made. Still, I have a pair of very dark, skinny, thick jeans for cooler winter days.

I wear my jeans almost every day and the last pair lasted about three years. This was before I knew you only have to wash them every other month at most. I don't consider $180 per decade to be too much to spend on jeans. That said, you wouldn't want to be active in jeans like these.

Just re-iterating that Duluth Trading Co. makes some nice cotton tees in various styles and sleeve lengths, with plenty of length, and the material is substantial. I just had to order several new three-quarter sleeve Henleys from them, because I've shrunk down a size due to Convict Conditioning and general MMM badassity pursuit of fitness. I'll donate my old DTC tees to charity--there's still plenty of good in them.

Those of us in the South don't mind thin shirts.  I prefer sweatshirts and sweaters to be on the thin side so I can layer them without having "too much" for comfort.

Now, cheap quality is another topic.
