MMM Stickers
« on: February 14, 2012, 11:54:26 AM »
In celebration of the MMM Forums, perhaps you'd be interested in making a few MMM stickers with the above logo. I'm not really interested in buying a tshirt (okay, maybe I am if it is funny and comes in big and tall sizes) but I'd be down with paypal-ing a buck or two for a sweet MMM sticker to put on my laptop.

Whadd'a'ya say?

Hey David, thanks for the idea!

I've thought about stickers and even nice Mustache shirts. My main hesitation is the idea that I don't want to cause a factory to pour more unnecessary stuff into the world in the name of this anti-consumer blog.

However, stickers are pretty small, and with the right logo it could be a cool way to allow us to show membership in this elite society. Ideally, I would set them up at a store that does "drop shipping", meaning I would not be licking envelopes and writing addresses all day to distribute them.

Or maybe I could order the big batch of stickers and hire an underemployed Mustachian to handle this duty, keeping the profits within the MMM reader family while creating a job that might pay $20/hour or so ;-)

That sounds like a good idea. I think it'd be cheaper to get a batch of 100 or 250 and charging fans $1-2 each shipped rather than paying $5/ea through CafePress or Zazzle. Format the stickers for that Mustachian, have them pay for the batch, and setup a link to direct all interested parties to paypal them $x for x stickers.

A good way to have tshirts and keep your philosophy intact is go with iron-on tshirt transfers. You could work those the same way as the stickers and you're not creating useless cheap imported shitty tshirts.

I know an underemployed Mustachian couple who would love to mail stickers if you decide to go this route

Heh, good point.  Still, MMM apparel could be fun.

Maybe all profits could go towards a Mustachian-type charity (something about the environment, or increasing financial education, or something)?

In the DIY, anti-consumerism vein--how about designing an iron-on design we could download (for a buck) and put it on our own shirts.

To chime in, I'd probably buy a sticker for a buck or two, but not a shirt.

www.Redbubble.com works pretty well for this type of thing. You just create and upload a design, choose a price markup, and then when someone orders a sticker or shirt with the design, it is manufactured and mailed to them, and you get the % markup.

What about if you did a small badge for bloggers to identify that they're following the Mustachian way to Awesomeness?  They're virtual so there's no waste!

I could help with this. DH used to be an indie musician, and we've done a few sticker batches to sell at his concerts. I have a good supplier that can do small-ish batches for a reasonable cost. Let me know if I can help :)

1st thought: Awesome idea! I really want a sticker to put on my water bottle!

2nd thought: Hmmm maybe I could get a bunch and put them on my neighbor's SUVs

3rd thought: Isn't this forum about not needing to go out and buy new frivolous material goods? Uh oh, this forum is making me antimustachian!

In all seriousness though....I do want a sticker :-P

MMM tweeted a link to some pics for a possible sticker, which I really liked (especially the bottom right one), but I feel the little "guy" with the mustache should be a cartoon dollar bill, if possible.

EDIT: Here's the link: http://picturedance.com/joly_mmm_stickers_v2.jpg

I disagree that it's antimustachian.

It's cheap (shouldn't be more than $2-3 per sticker shipped) way to promote our philosophies and make our water coolers, laptops, guitar cases, etc. look a little more badass.

I guess the extreme Mustachian solution would be to get a sharpie and just write a link on something, but since I wanted a sticker anyway I'd rather express Mustachianism than some lame band or Star Wars joke.

Very cool, and I agree with cartoon dollar bill.  I also like how the site name and motto are written in "high-school notebook" ink. Remixing that image to be 2"x3" would work well, but I'd happily sport the ones from your link as well.

No one likes the lil' mustache guy? I think he's cute. And although buying stickers is on the ironic side, it doesn't hurt to have this lifestyle promoted. You know, rather than the negative promotion of "you do WHAT to save money?"

Oh, I definitely like it!  I just think a cartoon dollar bill would be a bit cooler, cause who can tell what that thing is?  A little blob guy.  He is cute, but doesn't quite get the message across, IMO.

I vote for this option. On a totally unrelated note, I happen to be incredibly skilled at mailing things. It's a qualification I picked up while addressing and sending a few million thank you notes post-wedding.

I thought of another MMM-style slogan that could go on a potential sticker or logo like this.

It would show the little cartoon guy (or dollar bill) with the mustache, say mrmoneymustache.com on the top, then along the bottom: "Because some people just need a kick in the complainypants."

you could put a small iron-on logo on random used shirts! They already exist so no new consumables are being dumped on the world. hows that for mustachian! The shirt would look like a random regular tshirt except to the trained mustachian eye that would recognize the small symbol identifying them as a frugal freedomfighter.

Great idea! Also good with that method would be those oval patches you see on work shirts. Replace "Buddy's Tires" with "MMM"

Really like the top left, the different color for the m's works well, and I like the badassity tag line.

The little guy is good, though not necessarily badass...  :)

The little guy kicks serious ass. His littleness is ironic with the massive mustache. I'd buy that sticker right now and pop it on my newly acquired 02 Accord that I was partly inspired to buy by MMM and sell my overpriced inefficient Sedan.

Also didn't realize that there were multiple quotes. I like the top left quote the best, and subsequently the color scheme also.

MAKE THAT ONE! (please)
