MMM is the most ________ forum
« on: August 16, 2017, 11:43:15 PM »
If I had to describe MMM with 1 word, it would be Pragmatic.  I'm a reader of many other forums, but god damn if it isn't a pain reading the stupidity posted in other forums (not talking about trolling).  I come to MMM and I get my daily dose of good sense, pragmatism, and a you-can-do-it mentality.  This is my daily psychological cleansing site, lol.

MMM - making Mureca great again!!!

Having just realized I've been hanging around here for over five years, I completely agree with your choice of pragmatic. It's so spot-on, I'm having trouble coming up with a more apt word. Therefore:

+1 for Pragmatic

Good choice "pragmatic". People here post all sorts of problems and others answer with constructive ideas for solutions.
Other words I associate with it are: helpful and friendly.

Ooooh almost 5 years for me too.

I would call it intelligent. And yes, pragmatic, helpful and friendly.

I am not sure if pragmatic is the right word. I think of the word practical when I think of pragmatic. I do not think MMM philosophy is easy at all. I think it is contrarian and difficult to practice with all the consumerist headwinds that we are bombarded with. It is hard to change and start saving 50-75% of your income and FIRE. It is probably easier to just follow the crowds and spend mindlessly like the majority of people.

I think MMM is the most Anti-Consumer Sucka Forum

I'd say "optimistic" and I appreciate that. There's so much doom and gloom in the news, so many people freaking out about the future. It's a real breath of fresh air to come to a place where most people are confident that life is going to be OK.

Hmmm. I do like pragmatic. I think for me, I have to go with "inspiring". The forum constantly inspires me to learn more, do better, help more, seek more meaning in my life, and so on.

Hmmm, I might need to revise my answer. For me, MMM is the Most Inspirational Forum. I was almost FIRE when MMM was born, but I didn't have a name for what I was seeking. Now that I do and I am, I hang around to learn, be inspired, and hopefully help others get there faster. The thought of being able to help others* achieve freedom to live their lives as they choose, without having to blindly grope about, gives me no small thrill.

*Especially single women. I never expected to be anything but, so I was FI when I finally met my One. I gave my notice a week or so after we eloped and have been living happily FIRE after ever since 2012.
