This is great.  When I was in college the philosophy department sponsored a campus-wide lecture on "What is truth?".  They ultimately said a true fact or assertion is something that any reasonable person, through the accumulation of experience, would ultimately come to accept as true. 

However, they added a caveat that for some people who disagree with you this necessary accumulation of experience may not occur during your lifetime!
