MMM "Sacred Cows" Forum Bracket Contest?
« on: April 11, 2015, 06:41:32 PM »
Why?

For fun!

In light of March Madness, I think it'd be a fun idea to have a MMM Memes Forum Bracket Contest™.

How would it work

Someone would go through this on sacred cows of MMMianism and select either the best 64 or all of them, assigning seeds.

Then, those would be used to create a bracket.  MMM forum users could fill out the bracket, for "which phrase is most MMM?"

Each round, the winner would be decided based on a poll on the MMM forums.

The brackets could be scored and the winner crowned with fake internet points and feelgoodyness.

Some examples:

  • Large student loans are never worth it
  • Health insurance costs won't be a problem during retirement.
  • Foolhardy optimism is better than complaining
  • Commute by bike, no exceptions
  • Financial gurus are all idiots who don't know what they're talking about

Sounds like fun, but also time consuming work. I'm not interested in doing it, but I'd fill out a bracket and participate in polls (even run it, and the polls--choosing the 64 and seeding them though doesn't sound fun to me).

What is a bracket? Let us say one of the things picked was "Bicycles are better than Public Transport" (I'm not sure that is in the list) - what would a bracket for it look like?

A way to face off options.  Most popular nowadays with March Madness NCAA Basketball.
