MMM's ABC News Video Interview
« on: May 13, 2015, 12:31:58 PM »
Hi Mustachians,

I couldn't find this posted anywhere else. It's the video interview that aired last night. Had to watch it in IE, because it wouldn't load for me in Chrome.

I've never seen video of him before. He comes across as a really likable guy, which made me happy for some bizarre reason.

Thanks ROY!  Would've been nice if they had spelled mustache correctly in the title, but hey, it's a small nit to pick.

Loved the old pics of a young MMM and Mrs MMM.

Yeah I had no idea what his name was before watching the video.  I'm sure it's posted somewhere, but it was weird hearing him discussed by first name, rather than just being MMM, as in the blogs.

3 avocados for $1? Bloody hell that's cheap. Here they cost $5 for 2 when on a good sale.
Thanks for posting the link, it's always lovely to hear MMM :)

LOL, yeah. Organic avocados are 2/$5 in season around here.

That was a nice interview, didn't hype up any perceived extremism, and the "challenge yourself in all areas and you'll become richer as a byproduct" was a nice message to end with.

You go, MMM!

And I really enjoyed the comments.   While there are the usual Yahoo news style nonsense comments, it's refreshing to see them met with smart MMM-follower replies.

The correct answer was 9 avocados, not 3.  He could have used some for smoothies and frozen them for later.  ;)

About the only thing missing was acknowledging that he's been at this for a decade.  The anchor called him a "young man" and a lot of folks seemed to get the impression he just recently retired and will go broke any minute.

Yes, this!

Young man? Wow. A bit pretentious. I'm sure he was just reading it from some intern's script though.

I'm a little sad that MMM is just now making mainstream TV news. Little late, but better late than never.

There is a written version of the report on ABC's website with about 60 comments.

Compared to most retirees in the US (i.e. 65+), he's a very young man.

Oh?  Was that guy who talked about downsizing his house Mr 1500?
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.

I was definitely wondering who that was.  Figured he must be of some ER prominence.

Pretty good video, normally they try to make mustachian people look crazy.  This wasn't bad.

Never knew his name was Pete.

Loved the old pics of a young MMM and Mrs MMM.

That was my favorite part too.  :)  The rest of it wasn't new or in any way shocking, but seeing them as a young couple was adorable.  And MMM with no mustache!  I didn't recognize him at first.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
