I choose to see the good things around me, but I'm still very aware of the negative. My dad makes it a point to search for anything negative with everything. Probably a reason I became an optimist because isn't it just exhausting to constantly complain?

For those who do the complaining, no, it isn't exhausting.  Pointing out all the stuff that's wrong is what they live for.  For everyone around them, yes, it is very exhausting.

My Dad is also a constant complainer, so I know where you're coming from!

See, I find it quite draining to be around one if those folks who puts a big smile on and pretends that things are great when they quite clearly aren't.  Forced cheerfulness is much more abrasive than gallows humour.

Oh, I totally agree.  I find over-the-top optimism just as annoying as constant complaining.

You can't change. It's hopeless.
Snork! Clever little human.

Rosie, I've enjoyed reading the Happiness Project, though I don't think it changed my dolorous outlook on life.

Oh good, you mentioned happiness, I just heard about >Oatmeal.com< today,
he has some very funny comics. This one is his outlook on happiness.

 Edit after taking the test.

I got a -4, I'm thinking about jumping out of a window.
Don't worry my highest window is 3ft to the ground.
Just practicing for FIRE.
