Would you do it?  At first I was thinking “after compounding 18 years that would probably make up for the name”

But it’s more like $30k after inflation.

I’m thinking I wouldn’t, even if you could give him your chosen middle name and he can just go by that.  Or “H. Name McNameface”

It doesn't matter what the name is, I wouldn't want to name my kid as part of some marketing stunt or game, if I had a kid.

Sure why not.

But the money gets invested in the child's name, to be received when the child reaches adulthood. At this point the child will probably be thrilled, and can change their name if they wish.

The money shouldn't go to the parents.
