I'm living together with my girlfriend, in The Netherlands. I'm a software engineer and she's a teacher. We'll have a baby soon, she's due in three weeks.
I've always done side projects. I'm a software developer, and I made some websites and apps for clients. Lately I'm playing with the idea of quitting my day job. I bought one app from another developer, essentially a microbusiness that brings in about 200 euros per month. It needs about 2 days of work per month.
At a minimum, I need about 1500 euros, provided I bring down spending. I've added a challenge to myself in the "Throw down the gauntlet" section for the groceries, and a separate one for my discretionary spending.
We don't have any debts, except for the mortgage. The house is worth 300K, and the mortgage is about 240K. We don't have a car, it's just not necessary here in The Netherlands. We've got some cash savings, about 7K. I'd love to bring down the mortgage, but when I'd have to choose, I'd always pick working from home.
