I feel the same way!  My company provides a vehicle which is supposed to get a whopping 19mpg, but so far is only achieving about 15.  It is appalling.  I have to purchase the gas for it but this is supposedly covered via an allowance which covers a zillion other things so hard to know how much is included.  I wish they had given us diesel motored vehicles. I had a VW avant in Europe that got 42mpg in city driving.

On the credit card discussion, my question would be:

If the Cards are so favourable to consumers, why are they out there? Why is every bank trying to sell you one?

Well that's easy. Stupid people rack up debt on them and the bank earns masses of interest!

The banks LOVE that, so they offer incentives to get you to choose THEIR card over somebody else's.

For those who AREN'T stupid and don't get into debt, they get the benefit of the incentives without any of the disadvantages :)
