Speaking of the very expensive ($5,000+) models, they cook food well but not worth it.

I can't speak to the cheaper models, like the $200 ones you can get at the hardware store or whatever.

Charcoal grill with hardwood coals. You'll never use gas again.

I agree, you can't beat the taste. However I do like a gasser for convenience. I would like to find a grill with a very high temperature for searing. On a good day (no wind) mine will only get up to 425-500 degrees. I would like to get up to 600-800 degrees since I like to cook meats "sous vide style" then just give it a good sear.

I have not used a infrared grill but decided not to buy one because I thought it would get clogged with fat/sauces and would require a lot of cleaning.

I would like to try one of these. It's a Namath Rapid Cooker, it's a semi portable gas broiler.

Wow, I'm interested!  I'm planning on getting a grill sometime in the next year.  #1 reason for an outdoor grill is so I don't completely smoke up my house when getting a good sear on.  Won't go with charcoal because I like to grill multiple times per week.

My biggest reservation is that this sounds like a "As seen on TV" type thing.  Also, would it hold up to the elements or would I have to bring it inside every use?  Finally, I'd prefer something with a natural gas hookup.

Wondering how good the pizza is, since it gets hot enough!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
