I see lots of deals for suits on
slickdeals.net
But I don't buy them because I have no need for them.

As promised, I'm reporting back on how everything turned out. My interview is later this week so everything came together in time. I'd say I did pretty good for my first suit buying experience. There are some things I would change, but I think it came out alright.

I ended up with 1 full navy suit for about $65.
I bought my suit for $15 at the thrift store. I took it to a tailor and go the sleeves shortened and the pants shortened. I also got it dry cleaned while I was there. Spent $50 to get that suit fixed up.

I also spent $30 on 3 ties and 5 pocket squares from http://www.solidcolorneckties.com/ and I bought 5 different colored dress shirts for $70 from Kohls. Unfortunately, I ran into a snag with the dress shirts/suit coat combo.

Due to a combination of suit sleeves that were slightly too long and dress shirts that were slightly too short, I was stuck with sleeves that did not stick out enough from the suit. My dress shirts fit great without the coat but the coat causes the sleeves to ride up a little bit. I was wearing 15.5 32/33 dress shirts so I ran to the store and a grabbed a 15.5 34/35. I feel like the suit sleeves are still a little too long, so I might take it back to the tailor so I can wear the 32/33 dress shirts. I think they fit me better personally.

Either way, I learned a heck of a lot about suit styling and I think it came out alright for little money spent. I could lose a quarter inch off my sleeve but I still look better than most of my peers in their ill fitting suits.

I don't have a full body picture, but here's a selfie. I'm wearing khaki shorts in the picture so don't pay attention to that. Let me know what you think. Also, don't mind the identity concealing mustache and glasses.

hydrojim: Looks ok but, 1). second (lower)  button is never buttoned; 2). length of jacket is just a slight bit too long (not really anything to be concerned with)
3). I know you're going for a professional look but loose the dark tie (makes the outfit drab)- a little color never hurt anyone!

If you really want to get proper info on suits and dressing "in general" go to a web board called "ask andy about clothes. com"

These guys will give you the run down. Bear in mind these people are in NO WAY MMM frugal. Some will encourage thrift stores and they even have a for sale section there as well. Others have no issue with $2000 shoes!

Nevertheless, it's a good place to get solid advice on how to dress in a professional manner.   (If you look good and feel good in what you're wearing, you'll feel more confident and be more comfortable in your interview. They're not interviewing the clothes but, your appearance is the first thing that people see and well, we know how first impressions are made.)

Good Luck!!
