I got approved for my Southwest CC today
« on: January 16, 2020, 12:01:50 PM »
I was approved for the personal credit card today. I will get it in the mail in 1-2 weeks. After I get the personal credit card in the mail and activate it, I will then request the business card.

Personal Card: 75,000 points (spend $6,000 within 6 months)
Business Card: 60,000 points (spend $3,000 within 3 months)

We have 4 rentals and rental income to justify the business card.

You need 125,000 points for the companion fare. We should get 135,000 points with the cards.

The cheapest round trip fare from Denver to Kauai (Hawaii), is 22,140 points.

You can use points in combination with the companion fare. As a result, we can buy 6 round trip fares and bring a companion totally free. This means 12 round trip tickets from Denver to Kauai (Hawaii) over the span of about 20 months.

Think we can do it?

Yep, we got a SW biz card in October and a personal card in December and just got our companion pass. It's a fantastic deal.

1. Use your name for the business card "First Last, LLC" otherwise they will ask for proof of business.
2. If you don't want to get one or want to follow the rules (though they don't care or check, its against the TOC to put personal expenses on the card), you can 'buy' points through rocket files to put you over the hump.

Hopefully you waited until after the new year to hit the min spend for 2 full years.

Sort of. All you have to do is wait until after the last statement close date of the year. In our case, as long as we hit the minimum spend later than December 15, we were good. It's generally not recommended to toe the line that much (unless you're planning a January trip), but I'm impatient and try to always be churning something.
