I'm excited about...
« on: July 21, 2014, 02:08:47 PM »
I'm excited about the tomatoes and herbs we're growing on our porch this summer.  The cilantro and basil were oodles better than store bought, and I can't wait to taste the tomatoes soon.  I'm looking forward to trying out new recipes with them and already plotting how to significantly expand our "garden" next year.  (My husband is even trying to fit a raised bed on our small porch next year...we're concerned about a local groundhog getting into it if we put it in our backyard.)

I'm also excited that this year I fixed the window fan and we haven't yet turned on the AC in the bedroom.  I'm loving living a little more naturally - and saving some money to boot.  Our new house gets a beautiful breeze, I spend more time outside and reminds me why we bought the house.  And my husband is thrilled he doesn't have to install the AC, or have our eternal debate over AC or fan.

What frugal thing(s) are you excited about?  Perhaps something you would have never done, pre-MMM?

i got free herb seeds in the post day! can't wait to give them a try once we've got our house in the next few weeks. i have also got free bee-friendly seeds and some other free herbs seeds to plant. they will be planted in free pots i got from someone giving them away and i should be able to get free, well-rotted manure to mix with bought compost. nothing to lose!

Also excited about our garden. I love working outdoors.

Excited that my bike is fixed. Excited that I will likely buy DW a bike tomorrow. Don't know if she'll ever consider bike commuting, as it's on the long side (over 10 miles one way) but getting rides as a family will be fun :)

Im excited that I am suppose to receive a solid offer this morning on my vacation property that I have been trying to sell for 3 years in Northern Wisconsin that a friend of mine is buying. I have sold all the toys over the last year(Snowmobiles, boats and 4 wheelers) now the biggest thing of all the cabin hopefully will go through. This will give me alot of cash for my stash!! The best part of it , is my friend said because of the deal and our friendship I can use it anytime I want. So crossing my fingers and toes!!

I'm excited about finally repairing my bike!

My partner and I found a beautiful path going alongside a canal nearby that runs all the way into the nearby town centre. Cant wait to try cycling it and replace the car for our shopping trips into town.

I had to take my son to the hospital last week (He is doing fine now).

I am excited knowing that when I get the bill I do not have to worry about where the money is coming from. I won't have to change my budget, I won't  have to pull money that was designated for something else. I am excited about being comfortable financially. If this had happened a year ago I would have been in trouble. Cheers to this site for showing me the light!

Like soccerluvof4, my realtor said we are getting an offer today for our cabin in northern wisconsin. We bought it two years ago, loved it, but want to get down to just one home owned and simplify our lives. I took out a HECL to pay for it, and it looks like we will be able to pay that off, and invest $20,000 from the proceeds. I'm excited!

I'm excited to be making decisions about our future that aren't based on how much money we'll make, how big our house will be, and how much stuff we'll buy. Wheeeee!

Finally convincing my SO that we can afford to retire!

She has taken it to heart and is working harder and faster than I am to make it a reality.  Rather than showing her the war, I am having to scramble to catch up!

I'm excited that today I resigned from the side-job I thought would be great to help me increase my stash, but instead just made me miserable. Excited because I didn't really need the job, and there is no real consequence from leaving it.

More time for projects that make me happy ^_^

I'm excited that yesterday I took my longest bike ride yet - about 4.5 miles. Not anything impressive to some of you, but it is for me.

I'm also excited that my vacation to Seattle is coming up next week! My travel partner (my mother) is a travel writer and got all kinds of discounts on lodging and such, so we're travelling the Mustachian way.

I'm also excited about how rocking our garden has been this year. I've had a bumper crop of tomatoes and lettuce, which I've enjoyed being able to share with friends and family. Everything we planted has produced thanks to good weather.

I'm looking forward to doing some maintenance on my bike this afternoon and reading a good book.

Oh yes, the garden -- I swear I have Franken-plants for tomatoes!  They are HUGE and running rogue, and loaded with tomatoes.  I've been harvesting about a dozen cherries a day, and 3-4 bigger varieties from my 6 plants, and they aren't even in prime producing mode yet.  Each day I look forward to seeing how many newly ripened tomatoes I have.

Oh, and I'm excited that tomorrow is Friday -- the weekend can't get here fast enough for this 9-5 working stiff.

I volunteer to take some off your hands :)

I very much am looking forward to Friday 5PM.  It's interesting, I just got back from vacation so I should be energized, instead it just causes a craving for more time off.

Yep, yep, yep! +1 all around. And, dude, if your Northeast locale is close to Boston, CommonCents and I would definitely eat your tomatoes!

A bikeshare came to my city.   I can escape from work and clear my head and become more fit at the same time.

I'm excited because I found out yesterday there is a Habitat for Humanity Re-Store that recently opened within 5 miles of my house. We're going to check it out tomorrow afternoon. We have multiple projects around the house and this might save me a ton in materials.

Plus, you know, what a great cause. I'm hoping to do some major volunteer work with that Org once I FIRE.
