If delaying for future expenses is a thing I can do, I'm expecting about $20-30K of medical expenses in 2-3 years. Otherwise, I guess I'm stocking up at Costco and donating the rest to the charities I volunteer for.

I would buy a good bike ($700), get flooring ($2000) and redo both bathrooms (they’re modest and small). That would be a huge quality of life improvement for me but are not immediate needs.

Easy.  I'd buy an oboe.

Really?  Would that use the whole $10,000? I didn't realize oboes were that expensive.

And that's not getting into fancy custom-made or antique stuff.  Top of the line musical instruments, even the more or less mass-produced ones, get pretty expensive.

Fake tits for the wife. I’m sure I could find other stuff easily for the rest. Probably upgrades to my camping trailer/tow vehicle.

Hmmm, I've received about that in the form of an inheritance. I created and funded a Donor Advised Fund at the end of December. Does this count, even though I haven't "spent" it yet?

Fix the damn shower, have someone paint the bathrooms (one still has impossible to remove 30 year old wallpaper), replace the flooring and backsplash in the kitchen, and if there was any money leftover, buy a serger and maybe a fancy sewing machine.

Assuming for the sake of the thread that I can't just use it on things I would have spent on anyway, I would take a long trip to Europe.

I would also like a doorbell, and since there's no wires I need a wireless one which are not cheap.
Really?  I got a wireless doorbell not all that long ago for somewhere in the $10-15 range.  Seems pretty cheap to me.  When I search Amazon for wireless doorbell, pretty much all the top results are under $30.  Unless you're looking for a smart doorbell with a camera or something...

1. Renovate bathroom - $6K - planned already, but this way I can have a really cool shower with a light show and rain and music:) and really nice tiles.
2. Camera                     $1.5K - Leica small camera, perfect for travel with an extra lens - wanted one forever.
3. Getaway-long wkend  $1.5K - relaxing weekend, with couple massage, a fancy dinner, at our favorite hotel by the beach.
4. Travel - xtra spending $1K - trip to Europe is planned, this would give me much needed/wanted xtra spending money - treat my girlfriends to something special.

Personally I'd put it towards solar panels for the house.

If the spending had to be frivolous, new couch, a ski trip, a laptop and a year of crossfit membership at the expensive place down the street. Ooh, and a night out with burritos and gold class movie tickets.

Yep.  Oboes are comparatively cheap, too, compared to a lot of other instruments.

You can't make me spend it!! I'll never break!!

It’s amazing to me that I’ve come to a point in my life where I would save/invest any money that came my way. There is nothing I need or want that I couldn’t already buy if it was important to me.

Here’s what I would do if I received/inherited the following amounts:

$10K – save/invest (duh!)

$100K – save/invest (still duh!)

$1M – adding this to my current holdings would bring me above my FIRE threshold, so I would pay off remaining $260K mortgage (even though at 3%); use $100K to complete dream home renovations; spend $40K on various travel adventures (over the course of a few years); spend $40K on new fancy car for DH (his want, not mine); save invest the rest.

The only two financial goals I have are 1) FIRE, and 2) DD college fund (which we have already effectively saved). I wouldn’t choose to spend any money outside of our normal living (pretty basic for our income levels) until both of these goals have been reached. We enjoy occasional inexpensive, local travel for now and keep our cars for a long time. Groceries is actually our #1 spend after mortgage payments.

Looking forward to reaching FIRE and living a simple life of service to others intermixed with a good chunk of relaxation, reading, learning, exercise (all free!).
