It been 3-1/2 months since Hurricane Michael.
I made a count yesterday, we have 96 homes in our
subdivision, 37 of them still have blue tarps on their
roofs to prevent water ingress, 12 homes have had
new roofs installed.
So that just over half of the homes needed new roofs,
but only 13% of them have been finished. The roofers
are busy all over this county and the one on each side of us.
Many young guys in town for the work, but still 3-1/2 months
later so many homes still need repair.
We had a lot of damage but could stay in our home.
We got our roof a week ago, and drywall on two ceilings.
Today they are replacing the cheap paperboard paneling
they put in the garage, every piece warped. The poked a
hole in a pipe and started a leak, so they're fixing that now.
They didn't put insulation in part of the wall, they were supposed to.
The roofers didn't cut the ridge for venting, so the won't get paid
the final until that's done.
The contractors seem to want to go as fast as they can and don't
have a lot of interest in quality.
I'm pretty easy going but my wife is ready to strangle someone.
Hope it's not me! :-)
