How to celebrate a succesful work tour?
« on: April 26, 2016, 10:50:55 AM »
A great weight has been lifted from my shoulders.

The last three years I have been a maintenance manager at a busy unit.

Congrat! I'm exhausted just thinking about all of that work!

I would personally host a big ass BBQ or something that is relatively inexpensive but also eventful enough that most of my close friends and family will attend.  If I just went through something what you went through, I would like to be reminded of why it was done in the first place and what better way to see it than to be home celebrating with the people that you were defending in the first place.

Thank you for your service.

Sit back, crack open a beer or six and know that you did a damn fine job! I know I'll be raising my next one to you.

"We dropped some bombs on some fellas that needed bombing and we fired some missiles at some things that needed blowed up, even shot some guns at some guys who needed guns shot at them."

Thank you for choosing to serve... your money is no good if we ever meet in a bar.

Spend some time celebrating the people that have supported your long hours away from home or build some new relationships.

Do you have a hobby that you've let slide due to work? I'd block off a weekend/rest day and binge indulge in that. [PwF does not condone this if your hobby is scotch or meth]

Potluck cookout with friends and family.
No big expense, some cold beers, and some good times with people who you like.

I'd go for a long walk in a beautiful woods.  Do whatever you like best.  Thanks for doing the hard work.  Wishing you a smooth transition to your next, probably less dangerous but perhaps less exciting, assignment.

Thank you for your service.

Do something nice for your wife and kids. Figure out what they'd like to do and don't worry about the money.
