How much has your stache grown in the past 3 years?
« on: December 18, 2015, 01:02:09 PM »
It's hard to believe, just three years ago I was sitting on about 150K in assets. Now I'm sitting on close to 600K. Between saving a lot of money and real estate appreciation, in just three years it went up that much. Of course it's market timing. I had money to invest in a down market. I had been waiting for an opportunity. I bought pretty close to the bottom in general. Hoping to do more of the same next down turn. I know they say the second half comes faster and easier than the first. Of course a down turn could change that temporarily. I say temporarily because I plan on having capital to invest during the downturn, which when it recovers, would be even more powerful.

Alas, the last three years have been good to me. Work sucked something fierce sometimes, even now at times, but man was it good for my net worth and cash flow. It's amazing how three years can change your net worth that fast.

I went from about -$10,000 and should finish the year at close to $100,000

I found this website just over 2 1/2 years ago so I'm not quite at 3 years.  But my stache has grown from $290,000.00 to $370,000.00.  I own no real estate.

Great Question Bearded Man!

3 years ago to the day I became a landlord. On 12/17/2012 my NW was about 690k. On 12/18 I could say about 800k (we got a steal of a deal on a bank owned duplex). Today we own 3 multi unit rentals. In addition, my 401k has grown, and our cash has increased to account for emergency funds needed for 4 properties. We are sitting at 1.2m NW. It's been a good three years financially, really sucky healthwise. Now my health is back on track thank goodness.  We are approaching my last year in the workforce as we make final preparations for my RE. (DH REd to be on point full time to build up our rental properties). DH has purposefully used a PM so that we can slow travel the first years of our retirement. I am very grateful for the properties we were able to acquire. Today, my local RE market is way overpriced so we are waiting for it to correct itself before another purchase. I believe the OP is in the Seattle area as I am.

Bah, got busy yesterday and forgot to hit the Post button...

Not as much as I'd hoped (due to layoff and eventually taking a lower salary), but NW went from about 400k to 600k. Not complainin'!
