I'm trying to get a handle on our electricity bills, which seem high compared to other places I've lived in the same city. It's not very useful to compare bills, since that will vary according to local rates and the size of your home. More useful might be to compare how many Kwh of electricity you use per square foot of housing, although that will also vary depending on what kind of home you live in, whether you heat/cool rooms and/or hot water with electricity, the appliances you have etc. But I'm interested in a ballpark! So here are our stats:

~800sf apartment, 2 people, average of 146 Kwh/month, or 0.18 Kwh/sqft/month
Mostly hang dry clothes and use fans/open windows, but some use of window A/Cs, clothes dryer
Electricity NOT used for heat, hot water, oven/range; all bulbs are CFL or LED

Averaging over the last 3 years...  I get 10205kwh a year.

2350 square feet... so 0.36 kwh/sqft/month.  Ours is mostly A/C in the summer.  We heat with propane & wood stove.
