I'm ruining my stats by posting, but I'd guess that I'm pretty close to lowest post count per day for someone that reads the forum daily.

"28 (0.032 per day)"

Unlike you lot, I was tactful enough not to mention that certain rebel spy by name when I started this thread.

Now we've most certainly scared him off and will never learn his secret.

Yeah but he was last active in 2013.  We need posts per day during active range

And I'd love to be able to look up who has the highest per-day post rate and the lowest non-zero post rate.

Easily done from here after sorting by postcount. ARS is obviously the highest per day at 11.337 per day, with Thegoblinchief running a distant second at 8.337 (followed by warfreak2 and soccerluvof4 in that order). The lowest is tied between 14 people registered the first day the forums launched (Feb 14, 2012) with a single post count. Those users?

I'd guess 95% of my posts are in a thread with other posts from me.  In other words, an ongoing conversation rather than reading and replying to every topic posted.  I use the unreadreplies feature to just show updates to the 5-10 or so active threads that I've posted to.

Less frequently I will scan the unread threads list to see if there is something interesting I want to participate in, at which point it will show up in unreadreplies.  There are a few topics that I don't have a good comment on but still read, but likely I'm only following threads where I've commented.

This.

I use this link to see the threads I've replied to that have new responses: http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/unreadreplies/
And open and read and reply to those a bunch, probably a dozen times a day.

Then once a day (though lately it's been every few days, and awhile back it was multiple times a day), I'll skim all the unread posts:
http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/unread/?all;start=0

I'll go into topics that sound interesting.  I avoid politics/controversial ones usually, as they aren't that interesting to me., so I rely on users reporting posts to a moderator if people are being jerks/breaking site rules (since, as someone pointed out, no one can read all the threads).

I use the orange "new" button to jump straight to the first unread reply in each of those (obvious to some, but mentioning it for those of you that don't know).

There's a curious lack of a certain rebel spy in this thread. I don't think a thread has ever gotten this long without him posting.

Heh.  Because it wasn't in my already replied threads, and I hadn't skimmed the unread ones today.

Also I laughed at multiple other comments made about me, so thanks for the chuckles, especially Paul der Krake, Grid, and senecando  :D

I have overwhelmed another website, similar to this one at one time, with thousands of my opinion posts over the years. My job there is done. :) Time to grace MMM with my  wisdom.  :) :)
I agree, except for me it's more like I have overwhelmed everyone in real life who will listen with thousands of my opinion tangents over the years.

I for one am glad you have this forum then.  You had lots of good opinion tangents.

lowest non-zero post rate.

I laughed that the person that won this criteria's one post was volunteering to be a moderator.  :)

THAT was interesting, thanks I.P.!

I think it's neat that there's still one user, semi-pro stache, that registered day 1, posted once and never again, but still visits and lurks (was active within the past month).  I can't quite explain why, but it does make me happy that he's still out there, getting the benefit of Mustachianism.

As a side note, I've started doing a lot more posts like this, with multiple replies in one (as I did several times in the Financial Goals thread I started in the journal section) - the opposite of padding my stats, so perhaps they'll start to dwindle..  :)

I'm with you all that follow the unreadreplies and then a couple times a day see the recent posts.

I actually consider a lot which threads I should answer to, because sometimes I feel like my addition won't be so significant and the thread isn't so interesting to deserve constant follow-up. Like this one, really. :) So, in a way, I'm putting myself into a paradox here.

I just thought to give this hint to those new to the unreadreplies link: the threads you reply to will follow you for eternity on that link! Beware!

This is also part of a low information diet.

Yeah, I wish there was a way to unfollow a thread or turn that off.

Sometimes I purposefully DON'T reply to a thread because I don't want it popping up in my list, and I imagine others do too, and that's a shame.

I just like hanging out with people who seem to think like me: not so many of those IRL.
I don't post that much, but have been here a fair while.
Like others have said, its impossible to read every thread like I used to.

I actually don't feel like I post all that much, which is weird since I'm number 2 in posts per day apparently (holy crap!)

The forums get probably 2-3x what my RSS feed does. And I barely ever go on Twitter or FB anymore. With small kids that I homeschool, this is my 5-10 minutes of down time during meals, when cooking, etc.

I also used to religiously read EVERY case study. These days I'm a bit too busy to reliably parse longer questions. Too hard to focus enough with goblins in the background, and in summer they stay up LATE.

For all I know, this time next year I'll be a ghost. The homesteading bug is going to suck my time once I can save holiday $ to put more features in (trellises, fruits, etc).

Oh yeah, I forgot to answer the original question, how do you post so often?

Same way people use Facebook so often, or watch so much TV.

Since I don't really watch TV, don't really use FB/Twitter/Instagram, that adds a lot of time to a day.  MMM forums are my main online activity, and it still doesn't take up that much time.

I forgot to add that I find the e-mail notify button a lot more useful than using the "unread replies" feature. Especially since many threads I reply to get uninteresting or break down in some manner.

I find with having this community, though I haven't taken advantage of it as much as I should, keeps you motivated to stay on course and think about more possibilities out there. If I take 1-2 months without thinking about saving, investing, living well, etc... It sort of becomes foreign to me. I need a refresher every now and then.

How do you do this? Other forums have a "multi-quote" function built in to support this type of reply, but as far as I can tell, this one does not. So do you just brute force it? Open replies in multiple tabs and then copy/paste them all back into one box?

LOL, I just noticed for the first time while typing this response the "Insert Quote" button above all the recent replies that allows you to do exactly what I'm asking. Question answered! Well, mostly. When making a reply it only shows the recent posts in the thread; so I guess if you want to add a quote from an older post, you still have to do it the brute-force way? Or is a way to see a larger list posts when making a response?

Had a discussion on a second date one time about whether or not Fett was cool.  The guy disagreed with the argument that "books don't count!"  I was willing to overlook that opinion on the sheer fact that we were going to the One-Man Star Wars show and having the discussion in the first place.

I think I post quite a bit, as a ratio of how much time I spend reading, because (a) I'm a loudmouth and (b) I want to try to contribute to a site/community that has done me a lot of good.

Why do I spend so much time reading here? I have a lot of enforced downtime, and I've optimized so many areas of my life that other ways of wasting time have shrunk.

One man Star Wars show? Now that I'd like to see! I use to call my younger, shorter sister "Little Boba Fett" until one day she yelled at me "I am NOT fat - quit calling me that!" She thought I was calling her "Little Bubba Fat" . Took so 'splainin' to convince her I was telling her just how cool I thought she was.

I think he tried to post the 10,000th post, but he entered a black hole that he can't get out of.

EDIT: If I were him, I'd have posted the 9999th post and then waited it out to see everyone's reaction. Then, I'd reply to everyone's remarks with my 10,000th post with some witty remark. But that's just me...

Yep at 10,000 posts he'll go Super Nova and explode! I see he's still at 9999 posts so must be holed up in his Fortress of Solitude trying to figure out how to fly around the world backwards fast enough to reverse time so he can re-set his post count to zero. Must...lure....him...out........

Dude's getting compared to Superman and the whole world waits for his landmark 10,000th observation...yeah but no pressure. ;) I think in Arebelspy's position I'd go with the ol' +1 and sidestep the whole thing.

Just noticed Arebelsky stopped posting at 9999 posts. Must start a flame war troll-a-thon to lure him out from hiding for one more post in order to spank me (the kinkier version of a face punch)  :-)!
At 10,000, the sunglasses will fall off and the blue blocks will turn to gold.

Performance anxiety? I hear men get that sometimes :-)!

It's the 10k conundrum. Does he attempt to post his 10k-th message and risk bringing down the whole forum (Y2K style)? He could be taking one for the team by not risking it. So, he will assume an alter-ego to resume posting starting at 0. If we start reading of a new guy planning to retire on the income from 100 properties, plans to travel the world, and being very cordial to everyone, well then we know we have found the new ARebelSpy.

Until then, the clock ticks and we await his grand 10,000-th post.

But really, no pressure...

And I barely ever go on Twitter or FB anymore.
Since I don't really watch TV, don't really use FB/Twitter/Instagram, that adds a lot of time to a day.  MMM forums are my main online activity, and it still doesn't take up that much time.

Same.

I check here, this subreddit, and my email. That's the majority of my time online at this point.

Conversely, I actively limit my posts b/c, well if I'm an ass IRL it's not preserved for posterity.

Stupid archival nature of the Internet.

How do the frequent contributors on this forum find the time to post so frequently?  Personally, I monitor the forum closely only when I have slow days in the office, but I already find it difficult to keep up with all the sites I track in the FI blogosphere outside this forum (putting aside everything else going on in my life).
I'll say it:  I can't keep up.  Even when I check these forums 2-3 times per day, there are still nearly 100 posts each time.  This place is even busier than Early-Retirement.org or Bogleheads.  I kept up pretty well the last couple weeks because the surf sucked, but in the last few days I've fallen way behind.  Next week the surf is finally back to where it should be, so I'll be spending even less time here.

Once a week I'll search the last week of posts for keywords like "Nords" and "military".  Otherwise I'll just scan the subject lines of the "Unread Posts" link or even (*gasp*) just click the "Mark as read" button.

The good news is that I always learn something new or get new material for a blog post or a few paragraphs of a book draft.

And after I FIRE, I will not want to devote more than maybe an hour or so a day to sitting in front of a computer or looking at a screen.
Yeah, good luck with that.

With my new cash back card, I get double points on every post. No black out dates.

Ha ha ha.

I am sitting in airport with three hour layover and just laughed out loud,

And posted another 10 times, too.  I don't post on other forums, this one somehow got me hooked.

Is anyone else getting concerned that Arebelspy has been eaten by a Yeti?

I think he's posting under a new username until he reveals his end game

Perhaps Arebelspy is waiting to surprise us with the reveal that he's also Jamesqf... and me... possibly Bakari as well. Maybe even you.

I knew he seemed familiar... Although I know he's not you or Bakari. Still not sure about me though.
