2017 Website Income

This is a poll for new members as well as us 'oldsters'.  I hope it will open eyes on both sides.  It would be really cool if Pete would eventually reveal his income for 2017, but he typically doesn't.  He also keeps a lid on his net worth, other than 600k being FI and now having more.

Anyway, I hope folks don't put too much thought in to their response.  You don't get bonus points on the site for being 'right' - especially given that we don't really know the answer.  I'll make my educated guess to kick things off though!

I voted but I never even wonder how much anyone else makes. I don't figure they care what I make either. 1 second of thought about what anyone else makes = 1 second of thought I could have about my own income and we are all limited on seconds we have in life. :)

Since I'm relatively new here, was the $400k comment meant over the lifetime of the site, or in a single year? The poll reads like lifetime. $400k/year simply isn't believable, so I'm certainly not voting for $500k/year.

I thought the $400k was per year, but I can't for the life of me find the article.  Maybe my memory has failed me and it is $400k total.

He mentioned the 400k/yr blog income in a New Yorker article, which was then extensively commented upon in this thread.

This was back in February 2016.

From that link:

He told me that his blog is now earning around four hundred thousand dollars a year. He was reluctant for this to become public, without his being able to provide a detailed explanation. He makes money from the products and services he recommends—Betterment, Lending Club, Geico, and numerous others. They pay him for every customer who comes to them via his site. He insists that he makes these recommendations based only on his own research and experience. He’s saving all this income and plans to give it away someday. Making money off the idea of not needing money is perhaps mildly perverse but little different from a cleric who preaches poverty yet lives in a parish manse.

I randomly checked "Mr. Money Mustache" out of curiosity on Google trends after someone posted an article that sourced Google trends for figuring out which businesses were on the rise (I think it was related to frozen yogurt).  Anyway, it seems "Mr. Money Mustache" has either hit a plateau or is trending downward, depending on how you interpret the data.  I'm guessing his website is making $400K or less.
