I ass-dialed a manager from a company I used to work for. He is a great guy and was very involved in my growth in many ways. Not quite the kind of relationship where I would stay in touch though. He was a senior manager than me and I was pretty much a 23 year old graduate.
I ass-dialed said manager.
I hit disconnect as soon as I realised I'm calling him.
I receive a text saying " Hey, I'm currently at a school function. Can I give you a shout tomorrow?"
That was at 18:30
I ignored the text.
It is now 19:30.
I'm a social retard for situations like this. What do I do?

Don't sweat it, I agree with sending a quick explanation back. If it makes you feel better, my sister's cat managed to call the governor of Connecticut once.
-
Yep, be honest that you butt dialed. Move on.
-
Send a text: "Sorry, pocket dial"

Ha. Which one? Rowland?
The current one - it was within the last year.

I'd give him a quick call tomorrow to the effect of, "Hi, Thomas, sorry I butt dialed you! How are you? I'm well. Yes, still working at MegaCorp. You? Etc." It happens to everyone.
+1
So you made one mistake. Don't compound it by refusing to speak to him now that he replied. You might have to get out of your comfort zone, but so what? At best it leads to an interview opportunity down the road because he remembers you. At worst you realize you can laugh at yourself, talk to another human being, and survive the experience. Good luck!

^This is good advice.

I'd do this too. (Don't use ass or butt dial...)
If he insists on calling, I'd take it. Who knows, maybe he has a great opportunity for you.

I agree that a text of "pocket dial" is better than "butt dial"

the more important question is..
did the Governor answer your cat's call lol?

This, but I would use pocket.

He didn't answer - he returned it later. She has his office on speed dial because of her job.
Just one more reason why cat calling is a bad idea in general.

I like the advice of giving him a quick call tomorrow and letting him know you accidentally called, but are glad to talk to him. Ask how he's doing but make it quick. You might need him for a reference down the line. If you ignore it it just will make it much more awkward if you need to contact him later.
-
+1 on advice above.
Next steps: either clean up your contacts in your phone (get them out of there!), or do something so you can't pocket dial so easily. Preferably both actually.

So just to close off the "story". I had a chat with the guy. It was worthwhile. :)
