So this and thought it was great, would love to do this with the family. Although at $260/day average it is a very expensive way to do things, not sure if that includes the trailer or not but their food and groceries was off the charts.

For a shorter vacation involving a long trip trip 265 $/day would be cheap, but for such a long one it's a high average, but the again if you do something like this at all then perhaps you don't want to do it on a shoestring budget.

Yeah, hot air balloons, cog railways, airplanes through the grand canyon? What is this crap? When my parents took me on a road trip, we'd drive between major stops and then when we'd get there we'd walk. If my parents felt really generous that year, they'd let me bring my bike or take public transit. And these people had a freaking RV so they didn't even have to pay for hotels!!! Holy Cow! How are you so uncreative to spend $264/day of your own money on this?
