Going to Museums for Free
« on: December 06, 2013, 12:32:48 PM »
I just found out that anybody with a credit card or debit card from Bank of America can now get into over 150 museums around the country for free on the first weekend of every month.  There are a lot of big museums too (like the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MOMA in NYC).  If one of these museums is near you, you could ride your bike there or whatever, bring a bag lunch, and have a fun and educational day for absolutely no charge.

Just a side note, the Met (I believe other museums in NYC as well, but I know the Met for sure) is pay what you want.  They have a suggested price of 10$ or whatever.  But you could give 1$ or less if you wanted to.

There are lots of ways to get cultural experiences and entertainment for no cost. Local libraries often give away museum passes, as well.

You can usher for a lot of theaters in order to see shows for free.

Volunteering at arts and crafts galleries often gets you invited to swanky parties.

And on and on and on...

Very cool tip!  I also keep an eye out for "community day" (free admission) at my local art museum - which is within walking distance of my home and happens to be this weekend.
