I opened a Chase Total Checking account last year and got $300.
It's a good promo, but make sure to keep the minimum balance in the account for the required duration. (Ex: $1500 for at least 6 months).
FYI, I had to pay taxes on it too.

I would discourage you from doing this offer because the usual offer is $300+200 for the checking and savings account (this one is $200+150). In fact if you check ebay right now there are some coupons for the former offer. I just did the $300 checking bonus yesterday in fact.

I get offers from Chase all the time these days, but during one of my most difficult times, they charged me $600 in bank fees for accidentally overdrawing my account by thirty cents. So AMEX, BoA, and Discover get all my business instead. Too bad for them.

You can actually print the offer off their website for free for a few more days. See http://www.doctorofcredit.com/chase-500-checking-savings-bonus-now-publicly-available-branch/
