Canadian credit card with rewards ...
« on: June 16, 2015, 06:17:19 PM »
Hello all! I am currently using a Visa Gold card (with an annual fee) for $110. It gives me 2-3% cash back on all travel booked ... points that I can (and do) use to buy $$$ credit cheques (12,000 pts = $100). Year extension on a lot of warranties (don't use this as much now but have in past).

Because of the aforementioned annual fee ... I am looking for a better card ... they are upping a bunch of their % and a bunch of other stuff - Any Canadian travellers out there who have a good/great card????

Thanks!!!

If you use Real Canadian Superstore, their PCFinancial card is no fee and gives you 7c/liter off gas and IIRC 2% back on stuff in store.

I have the CIBC Visa dividends cards.  There's a Free one that gives back 1% on everything, or a paid one that gives back about 2%(on a tier system so not everything is 2%) if you pay the annual fee for it.
I don't spend enough to bother with the paid card, as it is now, with 1% back, and never paying interest, i get back over $250 every Christmas for running bills and purchases through it.

Westjet RBC card has a $99 fee, but you get back (i think) 2% of purchases towards flights with westjet, and your second seat on a westjet flight is only $99 (both have to fly together and be booked together to get that deal)  When i signed up there was a $250 bonus for signing.  Saving up points for my next trip im taking.  Should be fairly cheap with this!  So far i'm a fan, although i usually never pay for cards.

I also have a PC Mastercard, but only use it when i'm shopping there pretty much.

I think the best cash back card is easily the Scotia Momentum for people who do all their spending on credit cards. Otherwise the MBNA Smart Cash is pretty good.

If you fly, the Westjet RBC card is great.

If you are an Aeroplan fan, TD Aeroplan Infinite.
