Fidelity job interview
« on: April 04, 2016, 08:25:43 AM »
I have a job interview with Fidelity Investments on Friday.

I've already completed a video interview, a phone interview, and online personality tests. I feel like they know me pretty well already.

Friday's interview will be in-person, at the Denver office, with a manager who hasn't had anything to do with me so far. They said it will be more of the STAR format questions (my previous interviews were all STAR questions, too). And they want me to research Fidelity and the role, I guess so I can talk intelligently about it, but I don't know specifically what they want me to know.

Has anybody gone through this with them? Do you know anything about the company or the Denver office? Any tips or advice?

If you haven't already, create an account at glassdoor.com. There, you can read reviews from current and former employees of the Denver office, and you can read reviews from people who have gone through the interview process. Hopefully some other folks on the forum will have some personal experience to contribute as well.

If you've made it this far, you've probably got a solid personality and understanding of their product.

It also sounds like you've been doing some research already--just keep doing what you're doing. I made the mistake once of trying to "game" an interview and ended up looking like a fool because the questions were different than what I was "sure" I was going to get.

Lastly, keep us updated! I'd be interested to hear how it goes.

I would make sure you know Fidelity's mission statement, goals, culture, CEO, products/services etc.  At least in my experience a company just wants to make sure you have put some time into getting to know them or at least what they put out in public.

I always appreciated when someone had clearly done some reading on the company website and had a good understanding of the products/services the company offered.

This is just general advice, I don't have anything Fidelity specific, sorry.  Good luck!

I had the interview yesterday, and it went very well. I'll be surprised if I don't get an offer. They said it would be 7-10 days before I hear anything.

Glassdoor was amazing. My interview was nearly identical to what was posted there.

By coincidence, I ran into this: https://communications.fidelity.com/pi/calculators/changing-job/ It's a calculator from Fidelity that compares two job offers (or current job and proposed job). I'm going to use it to evaluate Fidelity's own offer, if I get one.
