On the Volvo forum, there is a guy who builds all kinds of cool furniture and stuff out of various types of wood, especially redwood--and he makes a damn good living at it as well. He drives an old beater 1990 (ish) Volvo 240 wagon. He has shown photos of it loaded to the gills (although safely, unlike the guy above!) with wood planks.
His photos of his Volvo hauling this much wood are quite striking, really in a post-apocalyptic sense! After the shit goes down and all the 4-ton chrome-encrusted bro-dozers (which have never hauled anything!) have gone to the crusher, these old Volvos will still be chugging along. Mine has the red engine, which I am told is good for a million miles (200k only so far)!
