H.R. 2146 passed the House 407-5 on Wednesday. Titled the Defending Public Safety Employees' Retirement Act, it would allow federal LEOs/FF and certain other professions access to their TSP (Fed 401k) at age 50 penalty-free. Pretty significant piece of legislation for such folks, who regularly retire in their late 40's/early 50's.

If it makes it through the Senate and is signed into law by the President, it would certainly cause me to rethink my planned FIRE date (viz., it would potentially accelerate it by about 7 months).

Oh goodness, if only they had the foresight to add military members to this bill....
