What are your favorite spots?

Padonak:
South East Asia. Not cheap to get there though you can use airmiles you get as sign up bonuses. Once you're there it's pretty cheap.

big_slacker:
South lake tahoe. I book a timeshare through my parent's account or just stay with friends, it's my adopted hometown. I drive down with either my bike or a snowboard and spend the whole time riding dirt or snow. :D

PhilB:
Rural holiday cottages in my own country.  No plane ticket or car hire.  Fully equipped kitchen so I can self cater.  Most of holiday spent walking, cycling and canoeing or visiting historic attractions covered by existing memberships.  Total cost of holiday = cottage rental plus driving expenses to get there.

Imma:
Czech Republic / East Germany. I've been there several times now. I live in Europe so it's cheap to get there by air, train or car. We don't have a car, but one time we went to the Czech Republic with a couple of friends and we rented an 8-person van and a large house in the mountains (we had bedrooms left over...) and in the end we all paid the organising friend something like €250 per person for a week. This included van hire, fuel, house rental and one large grocery shop for beer, bbq food and breakfast. We went out to eat a few times (dirt cheap over there) and we paid those costs out of pocket, but you pay maybe €7,50 for dinner, lunch was even cheaper. Beer was €1 for 1/2 liter. There are many good locations for hiking and climbing and there are lots of old castles and churches to visit.
