Elio Motors: almost makes me want to buy new.

http://www.eliomotors.com/
Executive summary:
84MPG highway. 5-star safety rating (they anticipate). Made in the USA. Seats two. Price tag: $6800.
Doesn't look as goofy as an Aptera. They plan on shipping in 2014.

If they can actually sell them for that amount, and I could get one across the northern border... well, I'd be very impressed. And actually tempted to buy new, for once. Anyone else heard of these chaps?

My grandpa just emailed the other day and said he put $100 down to reserve one of these so we'll see how that goes...maybe I'll get to drive one next year! He has always like off-beat vehicles (restored a 1936 Ford pickup, built his own airplane, owns a Can-Am Spyder, built a camper out of a van, etc. etc.) so this is right up his alley.

Le whoops.
I am a bad forumer. I didn't even think to check.
In my defense, though, I had not yet finished my morning cup of tea.
