Eeeeck medical insurance sticker shock
« on: September 29, 2014, 03:46:35 PM »
Ok husband is HATING his job.  And we're probably moving to Portland maybe before June school end.
But I looked medical insurance $700 a month for the four of us.  And that was the cheap plan.  What the???   Seattle definitely is not the place to be to self insure.  Talk about sticker shock.  I was thinking we're were getting close to fire but with that kinda cost it'll take another two years.

Really $700 dollars a month. For a high deductible plan. Yuck.

What about the ACA? You won't have to change doctors. It will be better and cheaper too. No?

Is this a Washington exchange plan?  Did you also check out the Oregon exchange plan for when you move?  Is this just a stop-gap measure for between jobs or would this be the "new normal" long term?

Sorry, Shropskr... :(

Checked the aca it was $600 so better. Yuck.

When move to Portland looks like will be lower plus duh mom not needed VA duh.   Stop looking up stuff day 5 of a migraine.  I know better.    Reducing it to three people drops it into the 300's much better.

I know we will survive this job loss and maybe even FIRE off of it.  Or my husband will have one more job but wow the stress now.    I wasn't ready.  Finished paying off the house in August. Was looking forward to quickly amassing a wad of dough.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
