Around the 11 minute mark he starts talking about an expirement where a researcher outfitted his bike with a sensor to tell how close cars got when they passed him. He then rode the same route with a helmet, without, and then put on a wig and a pink shirt and biked with and without a helmet again.

What he found was that men with helmets were given the least amount of space from drivers while "women" without helmets were given the most amount of space.

Nice to know that I'm making life worse for myself when I put the helmet on!

Additionally as a woman driver, I would stay away as far as possible from a bloke with long hair in a pink shirt, even if he had good buns in lycra.

I was also thinking a pink shirt is typically much more visible than a blue shirt (i believe he wore a dull blue shirt as a male).  That alone would skew the results.

Around here the most common attachment are numerous cable ties put on so the tips point skywards. Prevents cranky magpies from dive bombing you.

I have massive googly eyes on the top of my helmet :) Not sure if it works.. or I don't really bother any magpies.
