Well, I was reviewing my wife's retirement files again and found out that she had a pension that I wasn't aware of.
It could be lump sum or annuity.   Lump sum it's equivalent to $300K!

Basically, it's another $300K savings I didn't know we had !!!!!

Side note: often lump sum payout on pensions are pretty crappy. For my company if you take the lump sum you need 8% return to match the annuity.  So then it's just a matter of how long you intend to live, and if you care about your heirs, but a guaranteed 8% return is no joke.  Realistically for me though they will force us into a buyout before I collect though so it's a mute point.

Awesome -- congrats!!

We had something similar -- we knew DH had a pension at his current employer, but we never counted it in our projections.  But now they have converted to cash balance, and we are maybe 5-8 years out, so we added it in and also suddenly "discovered" we had like $300K we hadn't realized was there. 

Great feeling, eh?  :-)

Awesome feeling.
  We will likely take it as annuity.  I'll have to figure that out.
I'll retire first so, we won't see that income until my wife retires ... likely in 6 years.

Same thing happened  to us. I didn't realize DH had a pension until I was on his retirement website one day and clicked on a particular link and found it. Nice $150,000 surprise.
