Yup.
The more money I have, the less "of a damn" I give about work/salary.
As my net worth grew, the more concerned I became about working on my terms, not what the corporation wanted.
So I worked less hours, I worked less hard. Eventually, I refused to work more than 40-hours per week (as a "salaried professional," I was expected to work 45-50 hours per week at a minimum). None of these things helped me keep up with my peers as far as salary was concerned, and I really didn't care.
Eventually, after FI, I just quit work, because I didn't want to deal with the hassles of fighting traffic every morning.
After 4 years of retirement, I went back to part time (later full time) work ONLY because the company let me set my own hours and work from home with essentially no supervision. But I get paid far less than I would if I went back to a big consultancy and put in 60-hours/week.
Which is fine. Free time and lower stress are far more important to me than an extra 10 or 20K per year.
