Seattle.....how's your experience with Cricket been ?  Decent coverage and billing?  Getting ready to make the leap from Verizon after 20 years  but haven't pulled the trigger just yet.

Long time Verizon customer, switched to Cricket a couple years ago.  Much happier with my $35.00 bill and no overages than I was with my Verizon $130 bill and had overages.

This is the phone my wife and I have, very happy with it too.  I got ours on sale for $79.99.  They have a newer model of this for $150 with VR glasses.  I would consider getting the Idol 4 and selling the VR glasses on ebay to offset some of the cost.

If AT&T service is good where you live Cricket is the exact same.  There are some minor networking differences as far as I know.  For instance, your LTE speed is capped at 8Mbps if I recall correctly and AT&T customers take priority over you.  This rarely if ever has effected my ability to receive data on my phone. I stream Netflix, Prime, YouTube, etc all without hiccups.

I'm in Southwestern PA, so of course definitely check your local coverage map to see how you will fair.

Negatives to cricket:

Their billing is very vague and hard to comprehend.  I've received multiple credits and such things and it was hard to figure out how it all added up.  Payment is usually very easy and simple though, flat rate every month and all is good.

Their customer service is usually foreign and hard to understand.  They have messed my account up multiple times trying to make simple changes.  This is minor inconvenience for the amount of money saved IMO.

They don't have the detailed call reports and data usage that Verizon has.  I remember being able to see every incoming call and how long it lasted on Verizon.  I also remember my data usage being very detailed.  On Cricket I don't even think it shows you a call history online.  There may be a detailed printout available, but I have not inquired.

I was a long time Verizon customer too. Been with Cricket 18 months now and I've not once regretted the switch. We have 5 smartphones on our plan and the whole bill is $100, a helluva deal compared to what we were paying with Verizon.

We've been on cricket for a year or so, and overall it's been great. The quality of the connection is identical to our old AT&T plan at a fraction of the cost.

The only kicker is that their customer service is pretty mediocre.  The cheap price comes at a cost of personnel, and that means it's great if you don't have any problems - and if you do have problems it can be slow or difficult to get an answer.  It's mostly chat-based and you'll spend a lot of time with low-level service agents which can be a waste of time. And if you need assistance from a store, they sometimes charge fees for things like activation help.

We had a hard time getting our initial accounts set up on the website (we kept getting errors) and it was hard to get that sorted out. But now that we're online it's a great service, and inexpensive. Billing is like clockwork, we get a text message the day before the transaction goes through. We find the 2.5 Gig high speed allowance is plenty.

They have zero international coverage outside of Canada or Mexico, so if you plan to use your phone elsewhere I'd suggest Project FI from Google.

Despite the initial hiccups, we're happy.

SIS

PS: Thanks for whoever used my referral code! I got $25. Very nice. :)

Use Cricket's email support if you have issues. They are usually more helpful than their phone support. support@cricketwireless.zendesk.com

I've tried other services but have came back to Cricket. The $35 plan is the right amount of data and price point for me. PM for a referral.
