Covid ventilator mortality rate?
« on: July 09, 2021, 07:34:27 PM »
Anyone have a recent link or knowledge of this?

I’ve done some googling and can’t find anything super recent or relevant

This isn't super recent, but it's from 2021, at least... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7781141/

I would assume that study was studying almost exclusively unvaccinated people, so that would be different today, but most people in ICU with COVID right now are probably unvaccinated, so maybe it wouldn't change the numbers much.

Here is a recent meta-analysis. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8177443/

"Mortality from IMV was highly variable among the included studies ranging between 21% and 100%. Random-effect pooled estimates suggested an overall in-hospital mortality risk ratio of 0.70" (70%) ... "Our findings showed that the use of IMV for selected COVID 19 patients with severe ARDS carries a high mortality, but outcome has improved over the last few months and in more recent studies indicating a probable better understanding of the disease management."
