Contact info for Experian/how long to wait?
« on: August 17, 2015, 12:35:15 PM »
Experian mistakenly put an active duty alert on my file a few weeks ago (I told Transunion to remove it, and somehow that gave Experian the idea to renew it instead).  I sent them the paperwork to remove it on Wednesday.  Experian doesn't offer an obvious way to talk to a real person so I'm not sure how to check on the status of my request.  Their standard 800-number is entirely automated.  Does anyone know how to get in touch with them?  I'm trying to apply for a credit card, but until this alert is removed the process gets stretched out into weeks.

I honestly have no clue but have you tried the hitting zero trick with the automated menu stuff? Many times if you just keep hitting zero it will get you to the operator. It doesn't always work but worth a try. Good luck!

Find out the corporation information about Experience from the state government. They should have real contact info.

In case anyone wants to file this away, it's 800-360-7580.  You'll be on hold for a while, but you'll get a person on the other end.  I was glad to close this out, but I'm still a little pissed that apparently they carried out my request as soon as they got my paperwork and never informed me.  I turned it in two weeks ago.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
