After I read The Sociopath Next Door, it helped me understand the sociopaths mentality.

Made work life much easier

Yet I do not deal with my boss on a daily basis so that probably makes it easier

The book helped me know how to communicate, and to position myself a certain way when this or that happens

Unlike every other mental disorder, there are only two kinds of sociopaths so it makes it much easier to understand the mentality and be able to predict their next move.

Now I handle work MUCH better. And by understanding her, I know how to play my cards so it is not a comfort to her to deal with me.

She let's me be but I do my job well.... so I do not need her intervention. She literally doesn't even supervise me anymore. I know how to play

not to overly offend her but to make it not appealing, or comfortable to get involved. It's SO NICE!! Best of Luck to you :)!

I need to read this book to help me understand my ex wife!
Stuff that I read online about dealing with NPD and Sociopaths all agreed on 2 main points:
1) You cannot "fix" them, so a policy of No Contact is the best solution. If that's not possible, then minimize direct contact as much as possible.
2) No emotions. Sociopaths are emotional vampires. They are looking to observe your emotions, so they know how to push your buttons and get you to react. They equate emotions with weakness.
To defend yourself, many experts recommend going into "Robot Mode" with no emotions and very simple straight forward answers with no irony wit or humor. It get's business done and they cannot read you. It drives my ex wife nuts because she can't figure out what I'm thinking! ;-)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
