Aftercare at the school runs around 100-150 a week (before school care is slightly cheaper). Way way less expensive than full time daycare. My kids are almost old enough not to need ANY childcare!!!

This just got me interested in our school districts after school care. It looks like ours will be $35/week. Much better than what we are paying now.  Only 4 more years, lol.

Our county offers Summer Fun Camp. For the whole summer the cost is only $100. $50 if you qualify as low income. That's 5 days a week from 8 am to 3 pm for 2 whole months for only $100! And our daughter loves it. On Wednesday afternoons the counselors walk the kids up to the public pool to go for a swim. On Thursdays the shave ice truck comes and the kids all get free shave ice. On Fridays a bus takes the kids to a nice beach for the entire day.

Lucky we live Hawaii!

Come to think of it, we also have a free camp offered called Parks Place, but all they do is hang around at the park and play games - very minimal activities or supervision.  No field trips or anything.  I took my daughter there one day and she got bored very quickly, but it is a decent option for low income folks.
