I had received an offer from Chase for 80,000 Marriott rewards points after spend in my email last month. When I looked at the fine print, you were ineligible for the offer if you received a bonus within the past two years. I was just at two years out from the last time I had the card, but easily a month away from having received the bonus (devil is in the details). I just checked their website today and here was how the fine print reads:
"Chase cardmembers who currently have or have had a Chase credit card in any Rewards Program associated with this offer, may not be eligible for a second Chase credit card in the same Rewards Program. Chase cardmembers currently receiving promotional pricing, or Chase cardmembers with a history of only using their current or prior Chase card for promotional pricing offers, are not eligible for a second Chase credit card with promotional pricing."
Does this mean what I think it does? Am I ineligible now since I already received the reward once? It also sounds like they will take a look at your past usage of any other of their cards and if they think you are just churning they may reject you, too. I understood the 5/24 rule (although I don't like it one bit), but it seems like they're really clamping down on things! Anyone else had any experience with this?
