CC churners: Do I need to wait a certain time between new applications?

I am not much of a churner but I need to buy a new laptop and pay off some big medical bills so last night I opened a Capital One Venture Rewards card. Then this morning I became aware of the Barclays Aviator Red bonus which requires only a single purchase and annual fee for the bonus, so I would also like to get that. But am I going to get dinged for opening two cards in close succession? Is there a recommended waiting time? I haven't opened any card at all for I think two years, maybe three, and only have two altogether (three counting the Capital One card).

I have never heard of a general 90 day waiting period.  I think cap one might have a restriction like that on their cards but if you are getting them from 2 different issuers you should be fine.

Each bank will have different rules about their cards.  Back when I churned more I spaced out applications to at least 90 days so I didn't have to remember the detailed rules.  Since you aren't planning to get into churning as a hobby,  if in doubt go ahead and apply.  The worst they can do it turn you down. <shrug>

Edited to add:  Don't be concerned that this post is from 2016.  DoC regularly updates these kind of posts if things change.  I just read the post and saw nothing about having gotten another card recently, so go for it.
