Bloody Mary Mix
« on: November 18, 2016, 08:25:38 AM »
I used to make own Bloody Marry mix many years ago!!!

Next week we are going to a family gathering and I would like mix up some Bloody Mary's but I'm to lazy to make my own mix so looking for a decent store bought mix, any thoughts?

I see Zing Zang gets some good reviews, has a good snort of sodium but I'm sure that is where much of the goodness comes from!

While I'm asking what you all recommend for Vodka?

I'm not all too fussy myself, more of a beer man anyway, well I like a good whisky coke ever so often too. Just don't want to show up with some swill that the younger crowd is not going to find tasteful.

I thank you all in advance.

If you use Zing Zang it doesn't matter what vodka you put in it.  It will just be delicious.

My personal favorite is Clamato.  Add real horseradish and whatever flavorings you like.  I won't give out my secret recipe.

I recommend Kruto Vodka.

We used to get the stuff that was a step above the cheapest level by habit.  Then one weekend a vendor for Kruto was offering samples at our local Specs.  It is substantially smoother than our old brand and cheaper to boot.

NYT did a vodka tasting some years ago, and found that Smirnoff was the best "true neutral", it's what we use for making raspberry liqueur. My brother's a Bloody Mary fanatic and his  mix recipe is just tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, and celery salt.

I'll have to remember this. Every now and then a bloody mary just hits the spot.

Do you use prepared / ground horseradish or the horseradish sauce?

First off thank for the replies everyone.

When I made my own mix I used prepared horseradish!
