Biking in Fort Wayne, Indiana

Does anybody here live in Fort Wayne and bike to work.  I live in the Colony Bay apartments, and work at MedPro.  I just moved here, and would like to bike to work, but am heavily intimidated by all of the traffic and highways.  I used google maps to try to find a bike route, and I did find one, but the distance says it's significantly shorter than my drive to work is.  Should I trust it?  Part of the trip is on Jefferson...is that safe?? 
I come from a very rural area, so the whole thing is intimidating, but I would like to get into the habit if possible.

The river greenway (bike path) will take you through downtown and get you close. There are neighborhoods around your work with roads marked as a bike path, but no real bike path.

Check out the Facebook group "Bicycle Friendly Fort Wayne." Some people there could offer some advice too.

The River Greenway is definitely your best bet.  I would not want to ride on Jefferson, but the greenway is great.  You can take it up to St. Joe Center just over a mile from MedPro, but you would need to find a good route to the greenway.  There are also apartments much closer to MedPro that would be decent places to live.
