Very interesting, short video on a Japanese technique of mindful spending and budgeting, developed in 1904.

Very interesting, though I wish it had shown how you connect writing down individual expenses to a wider-angle view of the big categories. I loved what the Kakeibo teacher said near the end: "Which one is more important: earning more money or controlling your money? I think it's more important to control the money you have available.... this leads to a fun life!"

Yes, basically "If you can't measure it, you can't improve it." And by "basically" I mean sort of obvious to us, but not necessarily widely practiced. I do tracking on a spreadsheet, every purchase, no matter how small. 29 categories, it's easy once you get into the habit.
