Bank bonus specially HSBC declining application
« on: June 27, 2018, 02:34:28 PM »
I have been signing up for bank bonuses lately and have done a few. HSBC keeps declining my wife's application because they "can not verify identity". They declined mine several times for the same thing and finally it went through.

Everything is 100% correct, anyone else having the same issue?

I don't have a solution, but my DH recently got declined at HSBC for the same reason.  We just gave up on getting the HSBC credit card, they seem like way too much hassle to be worth dealing with more than necessary.  If he didn't already have a bank account with their UK branch, we probably wouldn't have bothered at all.

I would just move on, HSBC is not worth the headache to work with.  My wife did the checking bonus and it took 4 phone calls to get the bonus, about 30-40 days after it should have been paid.

On the Doctor of Credit website HSBC is probably the most complained about bank.

Agree.  Even when things work "normally" how they should with a sign-up bonus with HSBC, it's a bigger hassle than it is worth (for me at least.)

Last year (or early this year?) I churned one of their credit cards for a sign up bonus. Wow, I couldn't believe how convoluted they made the process of signing up for online access to a credit card account (involved having to call them to finish getting it set up, and having the credit card website basically be an auxiliary website that is linked to off of the main "banking" site that they force you got make an account on too...)  I will never voluntarily deal with this bank again in my life.

I did the $350 bonus a few months ago.  No problems with the set up.  The CD matures in 2 months, then I will close the account.  The $350 was credited.

That stinks hope I get my $350 bonus. I'll just give up on hers. That was good $$ it sucks they are such a pain. All the other US banks so far have been good. I like doing these over credit cards.

Just curious, does she have any sort of voluntary freeze on her credit reports? A while back there was a thread about doing that when the Equifax breach occurred. If she has one that might interfere with approval.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
